Have a drive going bad and need to copy the entire drive to another new drive. Have heard about "Ghost" programs that will perform this function. Does anyone know of a source for obtaining a "Ghost" program? Thank you for your time and attention to my query. chforbes.

   Ghost is the name of Norton's disk image copying program.  So if you want to purchase that program, you can contact Norton or look in your local computer store.
   There are also other comercial programs that backup and/or transfer the disk image.
   Some harddrive companies package free software with a new harddrive that will transfer the old drive to the new.  Some also have the software available in the Support/Downloads section of their websites.
   Then there are freeware disk image programs.  One I have used is DriveImage XML.  It works fine most of the time for me.

There is a series of utility disks by Hiren. (just put Hiren 9 into google) and one of the utilities is Ghost.
You BOOT from the CD which takes you into Dos and the option to run Ghost. Within Ghost, the options are: to copy a partition to another partion in which case you would be up and running straight away. You simply attach the new drive to the computer, as a slave if you're on IDE connections, and run the program. Disconnect the old drive, set the new drive to master and connect it where the old drive was. Press the button.
