hijacked internet explorer browser results are rerouted what is the problem

Can you please explain exactly what is happening?  Please give some details.  It is hard to know or guess what is happening without more information.

This is one trial although it may not work.
1. Go to Windows Update and down load IE7 and save it to some file.
2. Go click on Start
3. Click on My Computer.
4. Click on Local Disk C or which ever is your main drive.
5. Click on Program Files.
6. Right click on Internet Explorer
7. Click on Delete(You may need to be logged in as Administrator)
    Do not clear your Recycle Bin during this operation as you may need it!
8. Now go install IE7 from your saved location.
9. Restart your computer and see if this fixes it.
10. If this does not work, repeat steps 2 through 7, skip 89 and 9
11. Now go to your Recycle Bin and restore Internet Explorer.
