Hope you all had a safe and quiet Christmas .
My problem is probably very simple, but I just can't work it out. I am trying to upgrade my graphics card, At present I have an inbuilt 64 Mbs slow as hell graphics system so I thought I would buy a new one and bought a nVIDIA Gforce 6200, brand new, so I tried today to fit my new card into my oldish but healthy computer and followed the install instructions, I run XP pro and the new card is AGP, which fits perfectly. however when I tried to crank up my computer I got the first part of my boot up process but then she just stopped on me, so I went through the process again connecting my monitor to the original outlet, but nothing doing, same problem, so rather than damage the MB or the new card, I wish to have some good and kind person tell me where I am going wrong. In the manufactures manual it says to install the driver for the new card before fitting the card, but when I tried that, I got a diologe box saying that I couldn't install the driver coz it was for another card and not the one fiited to my system which is obvious coz the one fitted is the inbuild card.
I have changed several of these cards before but never struck this problem.
Any of you learned Guys and Gals got any suggestions. I would be very greatful for any info you could offer me to try and rectify the problem.

Was your original card an Nvidia card ? You have to remove all traces of the original driver. Please post this information.
In the mean time try the following:- Warning this is painful but necessary to get a proper install. Video card drivers are a royal pain and updating drivers from the same manufacturer requires nearly the same process. You will have a few extra steps since your PC is not booting up.

Boot into safe mode.
In safe mode your PC will find your card and ask to install the default VGA driver. Let it do that and then reboot normally.
When you reboot go to the control panel - Add/Remove Programs and remove the old driver.
Go to  http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745  and download Drive Cleaner Professional.
Install it.
Reboot into safe mode and run drivecleaner to clean all traces of your original driver. Take care to only clean the display driver.
Reboot and then go to DeviceManager and uninstall the display adapter Drivers.
Reboot and this time when Windows discovers your card and starts the install process cancel out and execute your new driver program.

   I would suggest calling the NVidia people.
   One of the problems with NVidia GEForce is that they have several different versions of the drivers but only one may work correctly on your computer.  So you have to do trial and error until you find out which one will work.  I had to install four different versions before I found the one that worked for my computer.
   That may not be the problem with your card, but the NVidia people should be able to help you with your problem.
