My personal opinion for what it is worth is to disable restore.
I recommend using Winrescue instead, plus use a backup program regularily.
I also recommend creating Ray's restore disk encase you are unable to boot.

There are three major issues with restore. It does not always back up what you need.
It uses way too much resources. If you acquire a virus or other malware, you need to remember to turnoff restore before rebooting otherwise  when you reboot restore will restore the infection. I believe the negatives out weigh the positives. If you value your time and data, spend the money to do it right.

I agree wholeheartedly with rarrows. System restore is a resource, disk space and memory consuming hog with very limited functionality. A combination of Winrescue and a Disk Imaging system like Acronis can give you real protection and allow you to shutdown Restore and it associated resources.
By the way the config feature built into WinRescue makes it an awesome file backup program beyond just a Registry backup system.

I think there are some of us who don't really understand how to use Win Rescue with Bart PE, to do a recovery.

I will buy WinRescue for XP when I can figure that out.

If there is documentation, please share location.

Please see XP Recovery CD Maker (http://xp-recovery-cd.com/index.htm) to make a recovery CD using BartPE with a special version of WinRescue on it.
You would then use the regular WinRescue (http://www.regvac.com/frescuemenu.htm) to make backups (you can use the default settings of WinRescue for the destination which puts them on the harddrive).
When you have problems with Windows starting, you can use the XP Recovery CD.  It will find the WinRescue backups on the harddrive.
