I have wiped the hard drive on a spare computer using DOS fdisk and created a primary partition. I entended formatting with the Windows XP CD.
Now, when I put a bootable CD into the drive I get the error message - cannot boot from the CD - error code 5
I can boot with a DOS CD OK but not a windows XP or a Bart Recovery.
My windows 98 boots but the program halts at the first line of text on the screen
Has anyone any ideas?

The thread on this web site suggests that this is happening due to a bad CD drive.
