My HP Deskjet 5550 printer has started to print a trest page asfter each print job, and I can't stop it. Have tried all settings, even completely uninstalled the printer and DL new driver/software from HP but alas it still does this.
Using up all my ink, and cartriges are very expensive for this puppy. Can anyone suggest a fix please.
I would suggest checking the settings on the printer, not the setting that the printer shows on your computer but the settings that are accessible from the keypad on the printer (if there are settings available there). If you cannot figure it out, call HP support or contact them through their website. They should know how to resolve that.
Select properties on the right click menu for the computer and see if there is a box checked, somewhere in the display that comes up, that says " Print a test page". My Canon printer properties window has 7 tabs and that option is on the first one. Fortunately, they use a button instead of a check box.
You said that you had tried all of the settings, so I was suggesting something that you might have missed, the settings which are set from the printer. Some printers have settings that can be set by using the buttons on the printer. From your subsequent description, it does not sound like yours has these. These are often not shown on the computer but are shown on the LED readout on the printer. My Konica Minolta printer has a setting on it which prints out a test page each time a print job is run. Yours must have this setting somewhere.
