How does one find out if something like Keylogger has been installed on a personal P.C. for tracking purposes ?  The software companies advertise they are undetectable, but there must be some way to check.

I don't know how Keyloggers work, but it has to start somehow.  So I would assume that it puts an item in startup somewhere.  Our program, Speed Startup (at http://superwin.com/speedstartup.htm), should be able to find the startup item.

Thanks a bundle for the information and link. Interesting that many knowledgeable computer people are unaware of programs like keylogger, yet privacy is such a huge issue nowadays.

A google search revealed this:

There are several programs out there - some free, some you pay for.

Suggest that whenever you download programs you scan them with a virus scaning program.
Good Luck

I have been aware of programs like keyloggers for quite some time.  I just don't know specifically which links they use to start them.
I am sure that all knowledgeable computer people are aware of keyloggers (otherwise, they would not be that knowledgeable).  They probably are also aware that even though many people are paranoid of them, they are very rarely used.

Download and install the free program " KL-Detector" the KL is Keylogger. Find it by googling.

Reboot using Msconfig remove all startup programs.
the lower right Launch bar should be empty. you also could delete them one by one if you are not familiar with msconfig.

start the KL detector program it will drop to the lower right launch pad.

Using notepad, type some message (I type this is a test.).
After typing just leave the message and wait 15 minutes. if KL detector detects files being saved it will indicate it and by clicking on its icon will show you What actions your computer made. any action is indicative of a Keylogger. you will have a list of files to investigate. If no action is detected you are keylogger free.
