Before I had to uninstall and reinstall my HP printer I could boot up the computer without going thru the Log On Screen and went right to the Desk Top. I have done everything possible to set it that way again and I can't remember what I did. Old age I guess. I have my wifes computer set up that same way and I checked all her settings compared to mine and can't see what I did. I am running Windows XP SP2 Home Edition. I have changed things at the "Change The Way Users Log On and Off" in the User Account in the Control Panel. The only thing that does is change it from the log on screen to having to put in a password, Not gaining anything there. When I unchecked the "Use The Welcome Screen" It would gray out the "Use Fast User Switching" and that is when I would have to go thru the Password screen to log in. I hope someone out there can help me with this.

In order to boot directly to the desktop, you will have to be the only user on the computer [other than the built in administrator account, which was set up when Windows was installed].
What you probably have to do in your case is to disable the built in guest account, since you apparently have no other users on your computer.
