When using Premiere Pro for video editing, the program began to perform endless loops when an "indexing" function began, that is, it just keeps indexing the same video clip over and over rather than one time. After calling Adobe and spending a few hours with their tech support person, we discovered that the problem does not appear to be Premiere Pro. When I created a new User (Win XP Pro), the indexing malfunction ceased for the new User account (but continued for the "old" User). However, I cannot find what caused the problem. The Adobe tech rep says it is in the "permissions" for file access. Premiere indexes a clip but cannot see it and indexes it again and again. Somehow the program is prevented from reading or seeing the index file that it just created. I looked at and compared the permission settings for the D:\ drives on this computer and another. Both are the same and give full access to files. Because I have so much loaded on the system, I dread a completely new install solution. Questions: 1) Is there some auxillary file or registry entry causing the problem? 2) How do I make an exact duplicate of the old defective User file for the new User file that works?
