Okay,..
To make my house wireless - is all I do is purchases a wireless router, (Belkin or Lynksys),  - plug into my DSL/Ethrnt connection in the kitchen and use my new laptop in the bedroom?  My new laptop is configured for wireless connectin and I have used it in a book store with no problems.

Awright you guys - you can stop the "eye roll" now.

Basically yes.
Issues may arise concerning distances, electronic interference from other sources and security.
Security may be the main one, unless you don't mind others tapping into your network and using your DSL connection.
Software that comes with the router should handle most issues, be sure to read all documents and configure it carefully.
