I frequently use Disk Cleanup to remove junk files from my computers at home and at work to keep my memory clear. Now, however my computer at home refuses to delete the files when I choose that option. I have run the program 8 times and the same files come up as still on my computer. The largest block is temporary files. Is there another option to use to clean my computer or do I need to purchase another program to delete these files.

Also, my computer is showing that my version of Windows may not be genuine because I had a computer crash last year and the tech I took it to reloaded Windows but apparently he did not use a valid version of Windows to fix my computer. So does anyone know if that is the reason Disk Cleanup is not working properly?

The only other thing is that my daughter is now living with me and she uses this computer a lot & I am not sure what sites she is viewing. This problem is really bugging me because my computer is slowing down considerably since I cannot remove these files.

See the following knowledge base article.

Says that a corrupted temporary file can cause disk cleanup from responding and gives a work around for the problem.

Thanks for the info. I will try this tonight when I get home. I really appreciate this. I try not to be too touchy concerning my computer, but I really don't trust my daughter to be careful about the sites she visits.
