I am a new user of RegVac and did a scan last night (Novice Zone). It found more than 600 bad keys. I see an option to delete the found bad keys but that is greyed out. I suppose the software is doing that for me. But when I do another scan it keeps finding the same bad keys. Am I doing something wrong. I thought RegVac already had removed them. Maybe I don't understand the tool correctly. Is there anyone who can help me with this? Thanks and greeting from Holland.
Yes, RegVac is removing them automatically. You are doing nothing wrong. There are two possibilities why it is showing the same items. The first possibility is that you have Vista and Vista blocks entries in various parts of the registry (if Microsoft shared with us which parts those are, we could exempt those parts from the scan, but Microsoft does not divulge that information) from being removed. Vista does not verify the validity of those entries, it just has decided that entries in certain parts of the registry should not be removed and so it blocks them from being removed whether they are bad or not. The other possibility is that a program maybe reentering those items even though they are bad. I suspect from your description that you have Vista and that is the problem. It does not hurt anything to have RegVac find those entries and not remove them. RegVac will remove what Vista allows it to remove.
