I have suddenly acquired two copies of the AVG toolbar in my copy of Internet Explorer 7 and I can't for the life of me find a way of getting rid of one of them, short of restoring the defaults, which I don't really want to do. Any clues, anyone?

OK, I've fixed it - a right click on one of the toolbars allowed me to untick its name, which made one of the two vanish. Simple really!

Well, I thought I'd fixed it. One of the toolbars vanished when I unticked its name, but next time I started up it reappeared. Not a great problem, but I'd be grateful for any ideas anyone can offer.

In the menu, go to Tools/Manage add-ons. In the menu choose "enable or disable add-ons". In the window that opens up look for and delete the appropriate add-on.

Many thanks Snakeyes. That sorted it. One of the toolbars was listed as a toolbar (!) but the other as a browser helper object. Disabling the second actually disabled both, but left a third item, also a browser helper object, labelled "AVG Safe Search", which actually seems to be my remaining toolbar, identical in appearance to the one that has now disappeared and including a search facility. Confusing isn't it? But it did what I wanted, which is what mattered, so thanks again.
