I have posted this before, but I still have the problem. My mouse pointer shifts without me moving the mouse.I have a Logitech digital mouse. I am running Vista. I have tried other mice and get no relief. Anyone with insight?

I have recently noticed this problem on my own computer [Vista Home Premium].
Looking in the Logitech SetPoint program, I discovered that the image of the mouse that is used to assign the buttons is grayed out.
The reset button seems to have no effect, so I am preparing to uninstall the Logitech software and reinstall it to see if that solves the problem.
Will report results later.

Uninstalled and reinstalled the SetPoint software, the mouse was still grayed out.
This was version 4.0, the older version that had previously worked didn't seem to be available.
I uninstalled SetPoint 4.0, this left the Logitech mouse drivers still in place.
Uninstalling that program seems to have solved the problem.
I am using the o.s. options in the control panel for the mouse now.

Mouse began having problems again!
After much searching, I think I have finally found the solution.
If your Logitech mouse is grayed out in the SetPoint application, the application was supposed to have downloaded an update for your specific mouse [LX5 Cordless Optical in my case]. This apparently doesn't happen in Vista.
I had contacted Logitech support and they didn't mention this even though I told them about the grayed out mouse!?!
I finally found a web site that linked to the updates.

The updates are downloaded from Logitech, but it looks like their support people don't know about this problem or the correct update to give people to solve it.
A case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing I guess.
After I applied the update, my mouse showed up in the SetPoint application so I could set the button functions.
Hopefully the problem is now solved. Let us pray.

You might try applying the update linked on the page I gave.
I tried using the SetPoint program to look for updates before I downloaded mine and it told me "no updates available".
Makes you wonder if anyone at Logitech has an overview of their operations.
