From time to time, Firefox suddenly crashes. I cannot replicate the conditions under which it happens. Sometimes I click on a link in a web page; sometimes I do nothing. I have the latest version of Firefox, Roboform, Win XP SP2, CounterSpy, Norton Anti-Virus, Outpost Firewall, Process Guard, Google Desktop.

Hello, yes this has been the "only" problem with Firefox for me too. Sometimes it does not turn off, sometimes there can be multiple copies and sometimes you cannot turn it off unless you goto taskmanager. There has never been any explanation to why it behaves like this or why it sometimes gets stuck or just freezes!!!? I have found this problem both on win2k and winxp, with all spīs. I have 2Gb of RAM so that is not the problem.
Have a nice day!

A lot of people criticize Internet Explorer and tell you to get FireFox (which I don't see as being any better), but one advantage that you have with Internet Explorer is that it comes with a whole team of professional programmers that catch bugs like that quicker and fix them quicker.

About 6 months ago I suddenly started having similar crashes and other problems with Firefox. After trying several measures to 'fix' the problem, I discovered the problem was a new extension I had added. I forget the name of the extension, but it was one that 'screened' websites to be sure it was the one I thought I was on. It wasn't Spoofstick or SiteAdvisor (which I've used for a long time and thoroughly recommend). I removed the extension and my troubles went away.

I suggest you take a close look at any extensions you've installed. One approach would be to uninstall them all, and add them back one at a time, using your computere for awhile before adding back another extension. Yes, this is a hassle and a bit of work, but it might help solve your problem.

I've been on Firefox version 1.5 since beta 2 and have had no problems....I like Firefox because I enjoy trying out new extensions and appreciate all the work a lot of people have put into it to make it a good, open source browser....SlimJim
