My computer takes a long time to completely develop msn. msn messenger often will not start automatically. The computer is slower than it was a year ago. msn advised me to uninstall the msn connection center about three week ago, saying that it would reinstall during the automatic updates. Haven't seen it since. I have an HP Pavillion 7935 with XP and service pack 2. I have an embedded back-up OS. I reformatted about a month ago, but it didn't help.

Hi!Do you have a firewall (Which one) ? A re you behind a proxy? Msn hates proxies ;set Internet Explorer on connection tab and click LAN settings;automatically detect settings;if that does not work , I will be of no help ; moreover (a newideawhile writing ) , uninstall msn COMPLETELY , remove everything ; clean registry ; all files and folders . As you have XP why not use the Windows Messenger, it goes through the same service but it a lot less troublesome, that's why XP is still using version 4.7 which was the most stable version of messenger ever released.

I personnally just throwed out Windows messenger ;MSN should work well although I confess to have met some serious bugs with it ; but it offers many more features than Windows messenger ; by the way if both are installed there is surely a source of conflict there. Best regards OLIVIER GEBUHRER

All a matter of choice Oliver, but what use is a program with features that don't work compated with one with less features that does work  

Jogor, what can be said ; you might be right ; however this is also the way you keep an old system which works  instead of changing for a newer one ; this is a very very conservative position and has also many drawbacks ...

Oliver, I don't really think that I am that conservative as I do use quite a bit of the modern technology but if I have something that won't work then it is no good to me and must be replaced or use something that does what it is designed to do.

Perhaps you would like to explain to me how a MSN malfunctioning product has so much advantage over the drawbacks of the fully functional Windows version.
