When I buy a box off the shelf with Vista Home Prem and I want it to host a remote desktop session (like XP Pro does) why do I have to buy the same Vista Bus Upgrade that I would buy to upgrade my ME machine?  Isn't there a better (more economical) way  to get Vista to host a remote desktop session?

Go to Control Panel\System and click on the remote settings link on the left under tasks and see if this setup is what you are trying to enable.

Thank you for the reply.  I really appreciate your time.  In that same screen in XP Pro there are two sections -- Remote Assistance and Remote Desktop.  In Vista Premium there is only one -- Remote Assistance.  I need Remote Desktop so I can have complete control over the host computer.  I do not have access to a Vista Business machine, but I have been lead to believe both choices are included in Business and Ultimate.

So the question is still is there a better way to get a Vista Premium PC to host Remote Desktop than to buy the full Vista Business upgrade when you already own the Vista Home Premium?

On my copy of Vista Home Premium, if I type remote desktop connection in the start search box, I get a link to exactly that.
You need to enter the name of the computer you want to connect to and options allow you to configure desktop, sound, programs to use, etc.
Check help for limitations on what computers, with which OSes, you can connect to.

If remote desktop connection is not installed on your computer, type it into help and support for information on how to install it.

On my Vista Home Premium computer (which I am trying to use as a host remote desktop computer)
Under "Windows Help and Support"
I keyed in "allow incoming connections"
After several paragraphs of instructions it says ---
"Notes:
You cannot use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to computers running Windows Vista Starter, Windows Vista Home Basic, Windows Vista Home Basic N, or Windows Vista Home Premium. You can, however, connect from those editions of Windows Vista to computers running other versions of Windows.
You cannot use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to computers running Windows XP Home Edition."

Now I know someone out there much smarter than I has come up with a way around this limitation (either free or with a charge) and I am asking that they share it with me.  I am quite willing to pay for it short of upgrading to Vista Business.
