I have recently upgraded to Windows XP, and since the installation of service pack 2 I cannot open my System Restore program. I also cannot repiar the installation by using the original windows disk as I get a message that the installed version is a newer one than the one on the disk. I also get restrictions on some of my mail as not being available. I also converted my files to NTFS rather than FAT 32.

HAVE YOU TRIED UNINSTALLING THE SERVICE PACK BY RIGHT CLICKING ON START BUTTON--SCROOL DOWN TO THE WINDOWS DIRECTORY AND OPEN IT BU LEFT CLICKING ON IT.  THERE SHOULD BE A LIST OF FILES IN BLUE AND ONE IS CALLED "SERVICE PACK ININSTALL"--LEFT CLICK ON IT TO EXPAND THE FOLDER. THE 1ST FILE SHOULD READ-"SPUNINST"--LEFT CLICK ON IT AND ON THE RIGHT THERE SHOULD SHOW ABOUT 4 FILES WITH ONE CALLED-"SPUNINST.EXE".  THIS SHOULD RESTORE YOUR COMPUTER TO THE STATE BEFORE THE SP2 INSTALLATION.  MIGHT WORK FOR YOU??

There is already a post in this discussion board with deals with how to activate System Restore.  It is at http://www.regvac.com/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl?b-answin/m-1137992481/.  Hopefully, that will help you with getting System Restore back.
