I set WinRescueXP to back up Configs 1 & 2 automatically daily. I leave my PC on all of the time, although not connected to the Internet as it is on a dial-up connection. These back-ups were taking place daily automatically, but have stopped during the past three days, even though the 'daily' setting is still in place from the dropdown menu. I can still carry out the back-ups manually, but should like to know please how to get the automatic daily back-ups working again.

   When WinRescue is set up to run automatically, it puts a shortcut in the Startup folder of Start menu that runs WinRescue at startup.  So if you keep your computer on all of the time, the shortcut in Startup will not be run and daily backups will not happen.
   WinRescue can also be run using a scheduler (the scheduler in WinXP has a bug in it which may not work especially if you do not log into Windows with a password).  There are freeware schedulers available on the internet.

WinRescueXP seems to have corrected itself! I downloaded and installed the free version of the scheduler wincron, the ran CHKDSK and rebooted. The daily WinRescue back ups for Configs 1 & 2 (the only configs I have) then went ahead before I could set up wincron.

Thanks anyway for the earlier info. I am keep ing wincrom in case I can use it with any other program(s).

The penny finally dropped. WinRescue started today because I had rebooted my PC. I have now set up the scheduler above using the information given in the Help screens of WinRescue, and the back-ups appears to be made correctly.

I am delighted to have a method of backing up automatically!

   Be sure to go to the Automation section of WinRescue's Backup Properties and set everything to Do Not Perform or Use Scheduler (either one will work with a scheduler, but Do Not Perform will probably be more hassle free for you).  When you do that, WinRescue will remove the shortcut out of the Startup folder.  If you don't do that and you instead delete the link in Startup, WinRescue will put the link back when it runs.

Thanks for the reminder. I had already (by chance!) opted for 'Use Scheduler' for Configs 1 & " and 'Do not perform@ for 'Start WinRescue and Wait'.
